Our Story

All Ella’s Apothecary products are Handcrafted, Vegan, Cruelty Free, Organic, Sustainably-Sourced, and we Up-Cycle any containers we can. A lot of our vessels are now handmade out of concrete for reuse over and over again.
Gratien Jamail is the owner and artisan for Ella’s Apothecary. Shortly after the passing of his furry companion of 19 years, Ella, Gratien began handcrafting candles as a way to process his grief. This hobby quickly expanded into a business after losing his career to the global pandemic. Candles expanded to many other items, and led to opening a brick and mortar location in Downtown Round Rock in February of 2021. 6 months later, Ella’s Apothecary closed the doors to the brick and mortar in search of a better location. Currently, you can find Ella’s Apothecary at various pop-up markets, festivals, and online. The cast of unique handcrafted items is always growing and changing. Currently, Gratien is moving toward creating vessels that can be reused. Ella’s Apothecary has a heavy focus on staying locally handcrafted, vegan, organic, sustainably sourced, up-cycled, and reusable. Gratien makes every single item himself. (with the exception of a few things sold in his shop that he gets locally and/or ethically sourced, such as palo santo, white sage, organic herbs, and locally hand-sewn face masks with unique fabric prints.)
Gratien is an artist, musician, DJ, massage therapist, animal lover, and a proud member of the LGBTQ community. Self-taught in all forms of art and extremely hard working, he is constantly expanding his skills and knowledge. All support is greatly appreciated, and he hopes you find as much joy in your new purchase, as he had in making it.

Ella Jamail 2001-2019
Welcome to Ella’s Apothecary. In loving memory of Gabriella “Ella” Jamail. Ella possessed the gift of healing. An incredible companion to her humans, she put her gifts to use whenever she sensed any pain or suffering. She represents peace, calm, empathy, and love. After almost a full 19 incredible years with her family, she was brutally attacked by two large dogs that broke through the fence of our backyard to get to her. Ella was tiny, but had a strength and will to live like no other. She survived the attack. After 3 months of round-the-clock nursing, Ella was on her way to recovery when her body started giving out on her. After suffering aggressive and progressive seizures, Gratien made the impossible decision to let her go peacefully in his arms. Her spirit lives on through all that knew and loved her. She will never be forgotten and her example of love, empathy, and healing energy will forever be a part of the decision making process for Ella’s Apothecary.
