Ella’s Apothecary was born from grief — and from love.

Founded in Austin, Texas by artist and maker Gratien Jamail, the house began as a private ritual. After the passing of his companion Ella, candle making became a way to sit with loss, to create light in shadow, and to transform memory into something tangible.

What began as healing became craft.

Each piece is handcrafted in small batches using sustainably sourced, vegan, cruelty-free, and body-safe materials. Formulation is deliberate. Fragrance is treated as atmosphere. Objects are created not merely to decorate a space — but to alter it.

Ella’s spirit remains the quiet architecture behind the brand.

For nineteen years, she embodied empathy, intuition, and devotion. Her presence shaped a way of moving through the world — gently, intentionally, and without harm. That ethos continues through every decision made within the house.
